Introduction

  • Educational Objective of the IBDP-E:The core of the curriculum aims at Energy Science and Technology, a key aspect of Environmental Technologies. The curriculum of the IBDP-E is comprehensively co-organized by the faculties from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the College of Engineering. All IBDP-E courses are taught in English.
  • Specialized Fields: The IBDP-E Students will learn and be engaged in the study of Renewable Energy, Energy Saving Technologies, Intelligent Electricity Management, Energy Economy and Strategy, etc.
  • Future Perspectives: The IBDP-E graduates are expected to develop further study or to start a career in Energy Saving Technologies, Solar Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal Energy, Fuel Cell, Bioenergy, Wind Power, Hydropower & Ocean Energy, Energy Economy and Energy Strategy and other types of Energy-related technologies based on their own professional competence.

Energy and its utilization are the most important issue which humankind must face in the 21st century. Following the trend of international technology development, the teaching aim of this International Bachelor Degree Program is mainly focused on energy science and technology. The curriculum of the IBDP-E (International Bachelor Degree Program on Energy) all in English is well organized by gathering professors with various expertise in the field of energy science and technology, from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Resources Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering, Department of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering, and Department of Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering, also from Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Therefore, the outstanding research achievements by NCKU can be extended their influences, through teaching and internationalization, to the global activities on energy science and technology. Considering students’ future developments in the field of energy science and technology, the IBDP-E offers fundamental courses and specialized courses, including traditional energy, renewable energy, energy saving technologies, environmental technologies, energy utilization, electricity management, energy economy and strategy, etc. The overall education goal is to provide students with basic knowledge of energy science and technology, then to guide students to identify advantage and disadvantage of various energy technologies, and finally to help students to construct their own thought with multidisciplinary and complementary, green technologies.
